The Easter Weekend and Dana Bay Conservancy
(A letter to visitors)

Take pleasure  take photo's, enjoy your stay, but please don't litter our lovely bay!

Dana Bay is a unique urban Conservancy.  Our deep, green gorges offer an outstanding variety of wonderful and sometimes very rare examples of Fynbos.  (Please don't pick or break or take home any 'samples' - they are doomed to die).

The ravines also shelter several species of buck; animals are trusting - be flattered when a buck does not scramble away to safety.  Enjoy the rare priveledge of a 'close' encounter!  Bird life is abundant and shy; watch out for the jewelled sunbirds as they flash about collecting nectar.

We are aware that our speed bumps are a nuisance, but please be patient.  They have saved many small lives, all part of the tapestry that is OUR Conservancy.

beaches are pristine; helped to be so by caring visitors, we hope they give you great pleasure.  (Please note that African Oystercatchers, an endangered bird species, nests on the dunes during March and December, and feed on the rocks at low tide.  Chicks are extremely vulnerable so no dogs are allowed, on or off the leash and small tots have to be kept under control).

Careless fisherman discarding unused bait, hooks and nylon gut can cut unwary feet and choke and kill a vulnerable bird or marine mammal!

Please join our Conservancy:  Help to conserve the irreplaceable!
