The Residents Association of Dana Bay Conservancy We care about our environment

This magnificent Jackal Buzzard was shot on Monday, 21 June 2010.  Hunting in a built up area is ILLEGAL.  The firing of any deadly weapons is forbidden BY LAW.  Although Dana Bay Conservancy has a lot of wildlife and green belt areas, we are a suburb of Mossel Bay Municipality.  

This incident is truly disgraceful because we are a proclaimed CONSERVANY, and have been since 27 May1998.  These birds have been breeding in our Conservancy for as long as 30 years.  If they are exterminated we will surely miss their jackal-like call and the beautiful sight of them soaring in our kloof.

The Conservancy has offered a R1000-00 REWARD for any information leading to the successful prosecution of any illegal hunters (POACHERS!!!).  Please contact the Police: 079 894 1368/044 606 5600 OR the Conservancy Emergency 24hr number: 072 802 1176.
